Find Kemper County Court Dates

Start with the court named on your notice, ticket, or filing papers; that office holds the record you need. Kemper County runs its cases through Circuit, Chancery, Justice, and the municipal courts in DeKalb and Scooba, and no single public Kemper County court calendar covers them all. Once you know the court, confirm the newest docket entry there. Dates shift when settings get reset or continued, so a fresh entry or notice beats any older calendar reference.

The Kemper County Court Calendar

No one calendar in Kemper County answers every setting question. Instead, a date can surface in four places. These are the case docket or settings block, the annual Circuit or Chancery term calendar, the court administrator or coordinator, and the clerk or courthouse record. The annual calendar sets the court's regular term windows. It will not tell you a specific case's time, courtroom, or event.

The Secretary of State publishes the statewide directory and the annual court-term materials. But the local case record is more direct once a setting has been entered in MEC. Circuit Clerk Shirley Steele Jackson and Chancery Clerk Sherline D. Watkins each route records for their own court. Justice Court and the DeKalb or Scooba Municipal Courts stay separate. That matters most for citations and municipal matters. The Kemper County courts page is the county's starting point for that split and for contact routing. It offers no live setting list. It cannot replace a current notice, the assigned clerk, or the court that issued a citation.

Kemper County Court Calendar Terms

The 2026 Circuit Court terms publication schedules five Kemper County Circuit Court terms. Each runs one week. Opening days fall on the first Monday in March, May, and August. The rest open on the second Monday in September and December. Grand Jury sits in the March and December weeks. These blocks fix the court year. They do not book a date for any named case.

A term reference on a Circuit docket makes more sense against that schedule. Even so, a case may sit earlier, later, or elsewhere within a term. For an appearance date, trust the newest case entry plus direct confirmation with the court.

How to Find Your Court Date

Know the court before you chase a date. Circuit and Chancery cases may be reachable through PAMEC in the court's adopted MEC deployment. Justice or municipal cases must go back to the issuing lower court. Kemper County posts no public daily web calendar. There is no text reminder program and no daily printed docket online. That gap puts extra weight on confirming with the clerk and the court itself.

  1. Use the case number, citation, or full caption to identify Circuit, Chancery, Justice, DeKalb Municipal, or Scooba Municipal Court.
  2. For adopted Circuit or Chancery matters, register with PAMEC and open the current docket sheet or notice. PAMEC is the statewide subscriber access layer, not a free countywide form.
  3. Compare the newest docket setting with the published annual term only as a cross-check. A term week is not a case-specific hearing notice.
  4. Call the relevant clerk. The current county phone sheet lists the Circuit Clerk at 601-743-8179, the Chancery Clerk at 601-743-8368, and Justice Court at 601-743-8267.
  5. Visit the clerk counter during published court hours for free permitted MEC viewing or paper-file guidance, and ask whether a posted notice or current docket call controls.
  6. For a citation or city case, call the issuing municipal court named on the citation. The citation controls the court route.

Note: Kemper County offers no official daily docket website and no public virtual-hearing calendar.

Kemper County Court Date MEC Route

Remote access comes in layers. PAMEC requires a registered public account. It opens only non-restricted records in courts that adopted MEC. The official terms list a $10 annual account fee plus $0.20 per results page. A no-match page still counts as one page. Remember that this remote system is not a live courthouse calendar.

Circuit cases live on the Tenth Circuit MEC deployment; Chancery cases on Sixth Chancery MEC. The system pages explain court information and status vocabulary but include no free public result page. When a date is urgent, treat the docket as one channel. Confirm with the court or clerk.

Reading a Court Setting

Read a Kemper County court setting as a set of fields, not just a date. A good court record separates a term window from a date actually assigned to the case. Public sources expose no live individual setting, so work from the documented fields a setting record may show rather than assuming one uniform display.

DateThe calendar day assigned to the next court event; compare it with later entries for any reset.
TimeThe time shown on the notice or docket. A published annual term does not supply an individual case time.
Court or locationThe court level or court site named for the event. A room or location should be confirmed with the clerk if unclear.
Judge or courtThe presiding judge or assigned court when the case view or notice exposes it.
Setting typeFor example, arraignment, pretrial, plea, motion hearing, trial, sentencing, appeal, or Chancery hearing.

Kemper County Court Setting Flags

Tenth Circuit MEC publishes a status list that decodes the short labels beside a Kemper County court date. A flag supplements the date, notice, and signed order; it replaces none of them. The newest entry governs, since an older notice can stay visible after a later action.

Arraignment Pending
An arraignment stage remains expected or unresolved.
PRE TRIAL
A pretrial stage or setting before plea or trial.
Plea Pending
A pending plea event, not a disposition.
Trial Pending
A trial stage remains pending, not proof of a scheduled trial time.
Capias Pending
A capias-related process remains pending and should be confirmed with the court.

Note: A Kemper County court setting flag gives no hearing time and never replaces the latest notice.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

Dockets shift. A reset is nothing more than a new date. Never read one as a dismissal, a judgment, or any final result. The entry to trust is the newest dated setting or signed order on the Kemper County docket. An older notice can lag behind. Kemper publishes no standing order fixing the exact wording for a pass, reset, or continuance, so wording alone settles nothing.

Weather and courthouse closures also move settings. The county's alert service is a general channel, not a confirmed court calendar. When a Kemper County hearing seems to vanish or slide, call the clerk or administrator for the court named in the case. Ask what the newest entry means and whether a new setting exists. For lower-court questions, skip the annual term update and go straight to the office. The Kemper County Justice Court page covers that separate channel. Municipal cases stay with DeKalb or Scooba.

Kemper County Court Date Versus Terms

Two different questions, two different answers. A term calendar shows the court's regular block. A case docket or hearing notice shows when your named case is actually set. Never assume a March, June, September, or December term date is your court date. A current case entry must match it first.

Kemper County Court Calendar Chancery Terms

The 2026 Chancery terms publication sets the schedule. Kemper County sits in court the second Monday of March, June, September, and December. Each term runs one week. Kiley Kirk takes the March and December terms; Doug S. Crosby handles June and September. Think of these four blocks as the Sixth Chancery District's yearly framework. They are not hearing notices for any domestic, estate, or land case.

Kemper County Court Date Scheduling

Kemper shares its courts with a region. Circuit District 10 pairs Kemper with Clarke, Lauderdale, and Wayne Counties. The Sixth Chancery District serves still more. That is why both court administrators sit outside Kemper County. An administrator can handle scheduling, though staff may limit what they give out by phone. Have your case number and court ready before you dial.

Kemper County Court Date Municipal Routes

Municipal dates in DeKalb and Scooba belong to the issuing court. A city ordinance case stays with the city. A municipal traffic ticket will not simply appear in a Circuit Court docket. The citation names the right court. For DeKalb, call Municipal Court at 601-743-9197. For Scooba, call Town Hall and Municipal Court at 662-476-8451. Scooba's Town government says its Municipal Court meets quarterly as needed. That cadence never replaces the date printed on your citation.

Kemper County Court Date Remote Limits

Kemper County offers no public Zoom link, virtual-hearing schedule, or text reminder program. A docket flag never grants permission to appear remotely. Neither does an annual term or a county alert. Only the specific court can approve that, by giving current directions for your case. The county's published court and phone materials route calls. They do not create any remote-appearance option. If a setting changes, verify it. Check the most recent notice and the right clerk. The court administrator handles cases sitting in Circuit or Chancery Court.

Note: A court calendar entry tells when a matter is set. The court alone confirms whether the format has changed.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Missed a Kemper County setting? Contact the clerk or the court named on the notice right away. Ask what entry the docket shows. Does a new date exist? Find out whether a bench warrant, capias, or other failure-to-appear action was filed. Circuit scheduling runs through Tenth Circuit Court Administrator Gayle Wink at 601-482-9741. For Chancery, the directory lists Sixth Chancery Court Administrator Kayla Hatcher at 601-289-0800.

Missed a setting? A missed Kemper County court date can result in a docket entry such as Bench Warrant Issued or Capias Pending, depending on the matter and court action.

Call the court or clerk immediately and use the current docket or notice to identify the case and missed event.

Do not assume a later term week replaced the missed date; obtain direct confirmation of any new setting.

Note: Calling the court directly is the surest way to learn what happened after a missed Kemper County setting.
